Voting syntax
Everything the builder writes, you can type. Taking an action is a short sentence.
[verb] [optional target] ! [optional context]
- The verb must exist in the verb catalog or be the name of a known skill.
- The target (if any) must be a real noun present in your node: another hero,
a mob, or a thing. Some things start hidden; reveal them with
search, forage, orsurveyfirst. - The context after
!adds flavor or intent, passed to the narrator word-for-word. Keep it short.
The ! is a context operator with two jobs. For standard actions
it's narrative flavor: punch goblin ! drive it into the fire. For crafting it's a
strict separator between your two materials and your method: join ! Riverstone Head ! Ironwood Haft ! press them firmly together.
Type anything below and watch the game read it:

Standard action โ valid
verb punch
target goblin
! context drive it back toward the fire
- Resolves as a standard action verb, or, if this is one of your skills, as that skill at your highest tier.
- Target: "goblin" must actually be present in your node.
- Your `!` context is passed to the narrator word-for-word.
Command reference
The core commands you can vote on; all follow the syntax above.
verb [target] ! [context]- Any verb in the catalog:
punch goblin, examine chest ! looking for traps, cheer. A targeted verb needs that target present; many (emotes, search, examine) need none. go [direction]- Move to an adjacent node: north, northeast, east, southeast, south, southwest, west, northwest.
say [message]- Speak to everyone in your node.
tell [hero] [message]- A private whisper; only that hero's cast can read it.
[skill][:tier] [target] ! [how]- Use a learned skill. Append
:tierfor a specific unlocked tier; omit it for your highest. Crafting:[skill] ! [item1] ! [item2] ! [description]. look [target]- Observe the scene or inspect something closely; can trigger discovery rolls.
meditate <target> [! reflection]- Recover, grow stats, deepen skills, or return from death; see Growth & meditation.
Watching on Twitch? You can play too. Once a streamer links a hero to their channel, type!vote <command>in chat (for example,!vote go north) and your vote joins the round like a web player's.
Writing strong votes
Great votes are short, clear, and actionable.
- Lead with the verb and target so the engine instantly knows your intent.
- Use the
!context to explain how you act, not to argue the rules. - Ride along with your party: votes pool only when the verb and target match exactly, so echo their exact pairing and add your own short
!snippet. - Keep each
!snippet short. The winning command carries a limited amount of context to the narrator, and short snippets are the ones that survive. - Stay grounded in what the hero can see or touch right now.
