How rolls play out

Quick tips to read the tables below at a glance.

Your attack: Add the stats named in your roll box, then include any level bonus. That total is your attack number.

Their defense: If a second box appears, the other side's stats become their defense number. For a solo check with no opponent, the task's difficulty (DC) stands in as the defense.

Chance to hit: Your hit chance is your attack รท (your attack + their defense), shown as a flat percentage between 1% and 99%. Even odds is about 50%; twice their defense is about 67%.

One roll, two jobs: A single d100 decides both whether you hit and how hard. Just clearing the bar is a glancing blow; rolling near 100 is a crushing one.

Armor: A defender's armor can shrug off at most 50% of a hit, so tanks survive on hit points, not an impenetrable wall.
